Brent Chandler is an assistant professor of chemistry at Illinois College. He performed his postdoctoral work at Yale University with Scott Miller and received his Ph.D. from Princeton University working with Erik Sorensen. He has taught courses in organic chemistry, chemistry and society, and spectroscopic methods of analysis. His research is focused on the synthesis of small molecules that have unexplored biological properties. Dr. Chandler is interested in and encourages his students to engage people in scientific discussions and demonstrations that illustrate science’s impact on daily life. He is a member of the Illinois Heartland ACS Section Climate Science Outreach Team and co-author of a grant for climate science outreach funded by the American Chemical Society.
