Frank Shaw (“Dr. Frank”) is an emeritus professor of chemistry at both UW-Milwaukee and Illinois State. He taught general chemistry and inorganic chemistry courses. His research interests focus on the use of metal compounds in modern medicine. His education proceeded from the University of Delaware (BS) to Northwestern U (PhD) followed by 2 postdoctoral stints at Purdue and McGill Universities. He is active in outreach events such as Chemistry Merit Badge for Boy Scouts, advisor to Theta Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega (coed) Service Fraternity at ISU, Expand your Horizons, APO Childrens’ Carnival and other venues. His interest in climate science outreach was stimulated by the ACS Climate Science Toolkit. A number of chemical demonstrations of climate chemistry have been developed and presented to chemistry clubs and teacher workshops in our section, at state and local fairs, earth expos and sustainability fairs. He is presently chairman of the Illinois Heartland ACS local section and leader of its Climate Science Team.
The audiences I prefer to speak to: I would be happy to speak to any audience with an interest in learning more about climate science.
The geographic region I am willing to cover: Willing to travel within 200 miles of Bloomington IL, and along the Wisconsin shoreline of Lake Michigan & I-43.
